About the Number to Words Converter

What is the difference between the two systems?

The international system groups digits in threes (thousand, million, billion); the Indian system groups the last three, then pairs (thousand, lakh, crore). 10,000,000 is ten million or one crore — the same value.

How do I write an amount on a cheque?

Use the Indian or international wording for the whole amount, then write the decimal portion as paise/cents — e.g. "Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred and Paise Fifty Only".
