About the BMI Calculator

BMI compares your weight to your height to screen for underweight, healthy, overweight and obese ranges. Enter your height and weight in metric or imperial units and this calculator returns your BMI, your WHO category, the healthy weight range for your height, and how many kilograms you would need to gain or lose to reach it. BMI is a screening tool rather than a diagnosis — muscular athletes often score "overweight" despite low body fat — so treat the number as a starting point, not a verdict.

How to use the BMI Calculator

  1. Choose metric or imperial units.
  2. Enter your height and weight.
  3. Read your BMI and WHO category.
  4. Check the healthy weight range for your height.

Key features

What is a healthy BMI?
The WHO defines 18.5–24.9 as the healthy range for adults. Below 18.5 is underweight; 25–29.9 is overweight; 30 and above is obese.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
No — it does not distinguish muscle from fat and is less reliable for athletes, older adults, children and during pregnancy. Use it as a rough screen alongside other measures.
